THE BIG 3-0!

No, not my age...

Holy cow. I can't believe it. 30 pound less of me. #inshock

I LOST 30 POUNDS!!! :)

I still can't believe it.  In two months, since joining the gym, I've doubled my weightloss. I've doubled in two months what it took me six months to accomplish.

I can't believe it. I really wasn't expecting it. I was just hoping to lose the pound I gained last week. I never dreamed I'd lose 3.6 pounds and get to the 30 pound mark! Total shocker!

I'm melting... lol

In other, but related, news... one of my goals last month was to consistently burn 300 calories doing cardio on my own, and I blew that out of the water. THe first couple times were a bit rough, but I made sure to get to my -300 cal goal.  After that, I started seeing how far I could go, and now I'm consistently doing the elliptical machine for 65 minutes (60 minute work out + 5 min cool down). My goal for July was to consistently burn 500 cals doing cardio, but I'm blowing that out of the water, too. I'm consistently burning 700-800 calories and doing an hour and 5 minute workouts on the elliptical. I can't even believe it!

I'm still training with my trainer.  He actually was going to be leaving, but then ended up not leaving yet for various reasons (it's kind of a sucky story, but he has such a great attitude about life, and I was very selfishly thrilled he'll be here for a while), but I'd already started making him a "going away" present.  It turned into a "Trainer Appreciation Gift" and his g/f liked it so much, I made her one, too!

Fancy panda. :D   Panda

How cute are these guys? :D

Gym Rat

I know I'm notorious for not updating much, but I've had a lot going on the past few months. Some exciting changes have come my way!

1) The contacts. I'm LOVING them still. I can't believe it took me so long to get them. I'm not a big fan of them at night when I crawl into bed only to realize I'm still wearing them and have to get out to remove the, though. Other than that, they're great! I'm finally used to seeing myself without glasses, but my glasses are pretty cute too.

2) We bought a house! I've been horrible about taking pictures, but we're still a work in progress. We have to get the couch yet, which should be delivered sometime in the next couple weeks, and then our house will look like a house. Plus, we still have boxes all over the place. It's a nice house, though, and we're getting used to it. :D

3) I joined the gym! This is a very recent change, as I only joined a week and a half ago. I joined online last Thursday, but made my first visit to the actual facility on last Sunday (6/2). Today is Monday, including today, I've visited the gym 7 times!

I also signed up for the introductory personal training sessions, which is 3 50-minute sessions. My trainer is awesome, though, and my last session is on Wednesday, so we'll see what happens. I work on strength training with him, and then on my own days, I go and do cardio. I skipped a day before we put my 'schedule' together, and I had to miss Saturday because we were out of town, but other than that, I'm loving it. My goal this month is to consistently burn 300 cals doing cardio. I was short of the goal on my first day by myself (Thursday - 22 min on elliptical/-230 cals), but I went on Sunday for my makeup day and managed 30 min on the elliptical and burned 305 calories! :D

The gym has kinda, sorta taken over my life, though. It seems like it's all I'm talking or thinking about. When I couldn't go on Saturday, I kept wishing I could go.  Who knew all I needed was a location (and a trainer, lol) to get motivated? A few people at work have also recently joined the gym, and they're all making excuses not to go. Then I talk about how excited I am about the whole thing, and they feel guilty. lol. Sorry, but I'm excited! I can't help it! I'm crazy, and I find that waking up early to get it over with is the biggest motivation for me, so I'm there about 6:30 every morning. The later it gets in the day, the easier it is to find a reason not to go. I don't enjoy showering at the gym, but I do enjoy not having to worry about fitting it in (or finding parking... this place is notorious for having a crappy) after work!

I also had a fantastic week at Weight Watchers this week.  My first week eating almost entirely at home (except Thursday, because we have Knit Night at Panera) plus my first week at the gym, and I lost 2.4 pounds! I'm down 17.6 total pounds since starting WW in January. :D Not bad. :D

What have you been up to? :)

I.C.U

So, I got contacts this past week! I have to go back to the eye doctor on Tuesday for a follow-up visit, but I love them! I kind of wonder what took me so long. Now my new prescription glasses just need to show up so I can stop going back and forth from my new prescription contacts to my old prescription glasses!

Christmas Cheer

I woke up this morning to ice on my car.

Untitled

For those playing the home game, I live in California. For those who think California doesn't get cold, HA! Last winter was my first time parking in the uncovered parking section. We're only given one covered parking spot, and when the boy got his new car, my "old" car was relegated to the boonies of the parking lot where there aren't covered spaces.

This ice scraper? I bought it on Amazon.com, because none of the stores or gas stations I went to in search of an ice scraper sold any. LOL. :)

In other news, we did some holiday decorating at the office.

An office Christmas!

This is Herman. He looks a little sad, lol.

An office Christmas!

This is my desk. I have a lot of work to do, lol. I also apparently celebrate Easter year round, but people kept bringing candy in to share, and that's the only bowl we had. I also need to take an updated picture because we wrapped the lights in some garland and it looks a lot better. :D

Happy Holidays! :D

Viva Las... Dallas?

That man of mine is a sneaky, sneaky guy.

Last weekend, we headed out for a long weekend to Las Vegas. Or so I thought. I was all ready to stick $20 in a slot machine and magically win enough money to get me out of credit card debt! I wasn't looking forward to going to Vegas, but we cashed in some miles and some hotel points and were getting basically a free trip. When we talked about where to go, I couldn't think of where I wanted to go, so we just decided on Vegas.

Snow-Capped Rockies. :D

Because of the miles we cashed in, our flight to Vegas was extended a bit since we had to fly from San Francisco to Denver, and Denver to Las Vegas. We arrived in Denver a few minutes early, grabbed lunch at their little food court thing, and made our way to our gate. I was updating Facebook the whole time, and people kept asking me where I was going. We arrived at our gate, but J kept walking.

ME: "Hey, our gate is right here."
HIM: "No, no... we're down here."
ME: "Ummm.. I'm pretty sure that sign right there says LAS VEGAS." *pointing*
HIM: *keeps on walking*

I caught up with him, and he handed me my boarding pass. I looked at it, and it said we were flying to Dallas/Fort Worth! WHAT?!

ME: "Wait, what? Does anybody know?!"

It turns out everyone knew ... except for me. LOL

Cowboys Stadium, from the air

We had a great time! We didn't do much Thursday night when we got in. We ate breakfast at Cracker Barrel Friday morning before spending the morning/early afternoon hanging out at the hotel. Then we met up with my sister and hung out with her for a couple hours before going to dinner with my parents to Boston's.

Saturday was Friend-a-palooza. We slept in, hit up Le Peep for breakfast because I'd never been, killed a little time, then went to hang out with my bestie and her family.  I can't believe how big her kids have gotten. Crazypants!  Then we went to On the Border to hang out with my friends and some friends of friends.

My Girls :D

After dinner, we headed to Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. It was a super fun place to go, but when we got there, it was standing room only, and I kinda felt like I was in people's way.  I think next time I'm in town, we need to plan better so we can score a table or bar stools along the little counter thing they have. It's easier loosen up so I can dance like an idiot and not care if I have a place to set my drink down. ;) After a couple hours at Pete's, my girls (sans Stacy who had to run after dinner), Joe, and I went next door to Cafe Brazil to hang out for just a little while longer. In case you wondered, their Banana Chocolate Chip cake is DELICIOUS. It was sooo nice to see everyone again!! I kind of didn't want it to end. lol.

We headed back to the hotel, slept in, grabbed lunch, and headed to The Knitting Fairy Studio, where I hung out with a couple of my knitting pals and knit for two hours. I would've stayed the extra hour they were open, but we had plans to go to mom's for dinner, so we left to do that. We had a lovely dinner with my family, and then we watched Cabin in the Woods, which was funny and gross and "WTF?!" all at the same time.  Then we headed back to the hotel, went to sleep, woke up and headed for the airport to go home!

We came home to the Giants winning the Pennant and moving on to the World Series! Go Giants! :D We were even lucky enough to stop for dinner in San Francisco, eat, and get back on BART before all the people at the game descended on us.

It was a super fun weekend, and I was delighted by the surprise! :D :D

Happy October!!

Welcome to my favorite month of the year! :D Here are some things I love about October:

1) It's my birthday month!
2) It's the birthday month for a lot of people I like a whole bunch.
3) Halloween!
4) Fall... it never seems like fall until October comes around. Even if I do live in a place with few seasons. ;)
5) Did I mention my birthday?
6) It's the only month of the year that starts with an O.
7) October's birthstone is Opal, which starts with O like October. (it's also Pink Tourmaline, but eh...
8) According to Wikipedia, it's National Pizza Month!
9) It's also SIDS Awareness Month, which I didn't know, but am always aware of this month anyway. :(
10) Did I mention my birthday? :D
